About Matthew
Hi my name is Matthew and I am a fun, local Irvine tennis coach with over 20 years of playing experience and over 8 years of teaching experience! In my junior career, I achieved a #1 ranking in the Boys’ 18s singles division for Southern California, represented the region at the National Team Championships in 2018 & 2019, won both Doubles & Mixed Doubles at junior sectionals and claimed multiple national junior titles. I also played a key role in helping my Torrey Pines High School win the National High School All-American Championships in 2016 and was the #1 singles player in 2019 when we captured the CIF State Team Championships. I earned a scholarship to play tennis at UC Irvine, where I served as a two-time team captain. During my collegiate career, I reached #25 on UC Irvine’s all-time doubles wins list, helped secure two Big West Conference Championships and led the team to two NCAA appearances, including our first in 11 years. In my collegiate career, I individually recorded wins over top programs such as UCLA, University of Arizona, Pepperdine, University of San Diego and UCSB. I began coaching junior players when I was in high school and have since worked with students of all ages & skill levels. I’ve helped players make their high school JV or their varsity teams & have worked with and mentored competitive juniors who have been recruited to play college tennis at many different schools like Yale, University of Oregon, Vanderbilt, Cal Poly, Tufts and more. I’ve also run group tennis clinics for kids and have worked with adults looking to improve their tennis game or to just simply get a great workout.
I am offering fun private tennis lessons, semi-private tennis lessons, group tennis lessons and hitting only sessions for all ages (kids, teens, adults, seniors) and for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). So whether you need to work on some specifics like your forehand, backhand, volley, serve, service return, overhead, drop shot, approach shot, footwork, singles strategy or doubles strategy-I would be more than happy to help you out with your tennis game!
I teach tennis lessons in the Irvine area but I will travel up to 10 miles.

Group Tennis Lessons (3+ Players): $50 Per Hour Each
Hitting Only Sessions (1 Player): $80 Per Hour
