About Al
Hello my name is Al! I’m a fun, local Colorado Springs tennis coach with over 25 years of combined playing and teaching experience. I started coaching tennis when I was only 15 as a sophomore in high school. I worked at a local country club as the Assistant Tennis Pro for over a year and the club pro had me work with all 14 and under club members. I learned a lot then about teaching tennis from the club professional which helped me also become a better player. In addition, I was certified as a USPTA Tennis Professional back in 1987.
Next, when I was 21, I was hired as the head tennis instructor at the Mountainside YMCA. I taught juniors and adults in both private and semi-private lessons and organized men’s and women’s competitive tennis leagues. I also was the Boys Head Tennis Coach at the local high school and the Girls Head Tennis Coach at a neighboring city.
At age 26, I started my own tennis instruction business in the same small town, mostly teaching juniors in private, semi-private & group lessons, junior clinics, junior leagues and some private adult lessons as well for over 6 years. I worked as a Head Club Pro for a summer in Colorado, an assistant club professional in Nebraska and I founded and directed an 18 and under tennis tournament called “The Belen Gold Cup” located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For the past several years, I have been teaching tennis to children, teens as well as adults in Albuquerque & just recently moved to Colorado Springs to teach here. In all, I have over 25 years of tennis coaching, teaching and instructing experience as well as 4 years of competitive tennis play.
I am offering fun private tennis lessons, semi-private tennis lessons, group tennis lessons and hitting only sessions for all ages (kids, teens, adults, seniors) and for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced). So whether you need to work on some specifics like your forehand, backhand, volley, serve, service return, overhead, drop shot, approach shot, footwork, singles strategy or doubles strategy-I would be more than happy to help you out with your tennis game!
I teach tennis lessons in the Colorado Springs area over at Meadow Wood Sports Complex, Monument Valley Park, Jackson Park, Portal Park, Boulder Park, Middle Shooks Run Park, Bott Park, Westmoor Park, Thorndale Park & Bonforte Park but I will travel up to 15 miles.
Please contact me through my FindTennisLessons.com coach page and then I will contact you back within 24 hours to introduce myself, answer any questions and if you are interested, we’ll set-up your first tennis lesson or hitting session at a time and place that is convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you and I look forward to the opportunity to be your Colorado Springs tennis coach on the court!
