Denver, Colorado is the place to be if you’re an avid tennis player. This great “Mile High City” not only has spectacular panoramic views, but it’s the gateway to some limitless adventure out on the tennis courts. The Denver City Open (DCO) is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the state of Colorado. In 1914, the members of clubs across the city decided that Denver needed a city tennis tournament. For the first fourteen years, the tournament was held in City Park. In 1928, it then moved to the fun Denver Tennis Club.
The DCO went on a hiatus for two years when the United States instituted the draft and then thousands of servicemen and women were sent overseas to fight in World War II. The DCO has endured and continues today as a Denver and Colorado tennis institution!
Fun tennis events at this tennis tournament include the Men’s 75 Doubles, Men’s 60 Doubles, Men’s 70 Doubles, Men’s 70 Singles, Men’s 80 Singles, NTRP Men’s 4.0 Singles, NTRP Women’s 4.5 Singles, NTRP Men’s 4.0 Doubles, the NTRP Men’s 4.5 Doubles, NTRP Women’s 4.0 Doubles, NTRP Women’s 4.5 Doubles, Father-Son Doubles, Father-Daughter Doubles, NTRP Men’s 4.5 Singles, NTRP Women’s 4.0 Singles and of course Mixed Doubles events.
Denver also has over 50 tennis court facilities available, so there are plenty of options to consider for tennis play. If you are looking for fun, quality, affordable Denver tennis lessons, why not try one of our great tennis coaches above at FindTennisLessons.com!
